Amazon.com Product Description The only dumbbell system that can expand to meet your strength needs, PowerBlock dumbbells are the most versatile and effective exercise tool ever developed for strength training. PowerBlocks work intuitively. Rather than requiring you to buy a room full of dumbbells, PowerBlocks act just like a weight stack at the gym, with a weight handle that fits inside the first weight, which fits inside the second, which fits inside the third, etc. When you want to change weights, you simply move the weight selector pin into the appropriate slot and you're set. As you lift the core, all the weights above the selector pin are lifted at the same time, turning your 3-pound dumbbell into a 6-pound dumbbell, or your 6-pound dumbbell into a 12-pound dumbbell. Not only is the system remarkably easy to use, but it's also cost- and space-efficient, as a single pair of dumbbells can do the work of dozens. This personal trainer set is a hybrid system that employs the weight stack from PowerBlock's Personal Set and the handles of the Elite Set. As a result, users can achieve every 2.5-pound jump within the weight range of 2.5 to 50 pounds per dumbbell, in effect doing the job of 40 individual weights. Even better, the weights are more compact and balanced than traditional dumbbells, with a padded handle that protects people with weak wrists. Best of all, the free weights are terrific whether you're trying to build muscle mass, firm and tone your physique, or get rid of unwanted body fat. The personal trainer set is not expandable and is compatible with the Elite/Pro weight stand. It also carries a limited 10-year warranty.

Best weights I own July 28, 2010 Guy I am extremely happy with these weights. The pin can be a pain when you're starting out, but once you've become experienced with them, it barely registers anymore. I've owned mine for so many years that I can't recall exactly when I bought them, but they're about the only free weights I use anymore.
It takes seconds to switch to the weights you want, and a little numerical guide at the top of the white section makes the proper selection a breeze based on color and the number of the two rods you have inserted in the white section. So easy, but the price may scare a lot of people away. If you are very serious about working out, and are also very seriously concerned having enough of a selection of proper weights, but have room constraints, I can highly recommend these PowerBlocks.
Mine have been very durable, easy to clean, and they seem like they're going to last just about forever. Which is convenient, because that's about how long I'd like to keep them.
I've used other adjustable dumbbell sets. Sears had one that wasn't durable, I've used the Bowflex ones, other cheaper knock offs that look like they belong in a Richard Simmons workout video. Nothing else compares to the flexibility of these.
Lovin It July 22, 2010 Bob 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ive been working out with these dumbbell's for a while now and they are not as complicated as they look lol. They shift pretty fast at least fast enough for me to pretty much keep up with p90x. Just make sure the bar you slide in the side is in good and your all set. I have no issues lifting these over my head i feel safe with them. They fit the hands great as well as a padded grip! I have no problems all through p90x (Im 6'3" so the width give me no trouble) If your smaller then you Might have a issue here and there though they don't seem to be much wider then most dumbbells.
Great Product July 6, 2010 Picky Shopper Exactly what I wanted. Found that I really need 2.5 pound increments. Changing in 2.5 pound increments during a super set takes a couple of steps, but at least this product gives you the options. If I was using 5 pound increments, this product would be ideal. Construction is good. I expect to be using these for years.
great tool for traveling personal trainers May 20, 2010 S. Wolfgang (fairfax, va) the powerblocks are durable and easy to change weight. As a traveling personal trainer I need all the space that I can get and these definitely do not take up much room. They allow me to have the maximum wieght for my stronger clients and a lower weights for others. I only need to take the weights I need with me and can change them during sessions with ease. Good price when compared to other high weight adjustable sets out there.

I am very satisfied with these Power Blocks.
They are very easy to use and add the weight
increments. The handles are very comfortable
and feels solid. I am using mine with my P90x
exercise and loved them. I considered
some other brands before and am glad I
went with Power Blocks. It is very safe to use
and lift and I do not have fear that the added
weighs will fall on me! Please highly check
these one out before you purchase the other
brands. They are very well worth the price!
