Weak, amateur and dangerous. June 16, 2010 Eric Kenyon (California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I do not recommend the Firm kettlebell video. It is in no way appropriate for beginners or anyone else. The technique shown is poor quality by any standard. Kettlebells are not toys to be played with, and making up kettlebell exercises gets amateurs in trouble every time. The off-center balance of the kettlebell makes correct technique even more important for safety than when using conventional implements. The Firm have mitigated this danger somewhat by using a kettlebell which is so light as to cancel out any effect unique to the kettlebell. In other words, if you are going to use the Firm kettlebell, you would do just as well (or badly) using a rock or a can of soup, or any other object of similar weight. With excellent kettlebell training information being available in this country for over 8 years, the bad quality of the firm video is inexcusable and frankly puzzling. It would seem to take extra effort to make a video so wrong. The kettlebell video I recommend Enter the Kettlebell! Strength Secret of the Soviet Supermenfor beginners is Enter the Kettlebell by Pavel Tsatsouline.
Kelsie Knows Her Stuff! June 3, 2010 Brenda M (Delaware, USA) This is an excellent workout for beginners or advanced. I use a heavier bell for most of the moves, but when I first did this workout with the 5 lb. bell, it was tough! If you are looking for a total body "kicka&**&" workout, Kelsie delivers. She is a seasoned trainer: Kicka%$* Kelsie! She knows what she is doing and what works. This DVD comes with a 5 lb bell so it is very well priced and worth every penny.
It's a known fact that working with kettlebells are an effective and effecient way of exercise to tone and condition the body. While weight training is good, kettlebells engage the total body with each movement, making it a cadio/weight routine all in one. It's been a Soviet military tool for centuries and now it is being used by our own military to train in strength and endurance. Even Hollywood celebs use this tool. What are you waiting for?
Good intro to kettlebell but not the best workout March 17, 2010 J. Gonzalez (Miami, FL USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is my first time using a kettlebell in any type of workout. I found the FIRM's 5lb kettlebell easy to use but not challenging enough.
The instructor has great energy and her instructions are clear. When you workout with the kettlebell you are doing traditional type moves such as biceps, tricpes, and lunges. You will also do a few swinging moves for your back and arms and moves where you change the kettlebell from hand to the over hand which I found a bit difficult due to the space that you have. I felt at time that I could have dropped the kettlebell a few times.
The most difficult move for me was move uses the kettlebell and while lying down you have to roll your body up into a standing position using one foot and then you roll yourself back down to the floor. That mainly concentrates on your abs.
GRRRRRRREAT!!! February 12, 2010 Reviewing.stuff (VA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful, wonderful workout dvd! I get so scared buying dvds because most of the time I just end hating it. I think that this is priced just right, and you get so much workout. The workout is challenging but not too hard and you feel so good during it and afterwards, I've been doing it about 2 weeks and I already feel stronger and am going to go up in weight with the bell. The instructor is very nice/good and the routine is organized in a good way-if that makes sense. It isn't all over the place and it has a variety of movements so you don't get bored. I need to find some more kettle bells workouts-hopefully they will be as good as this one!
I LOVE THIS WORKOUT! February 4, 2010 Allison J. Roberts (Connecticut) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wanted a change in my exercise routine so I decided to try working out with a Kettlebell. I have a few Firm Workouts and I love Kelsie Daniels as an instructor so I decided to buy this to try it. Let me just add this little note...I ordered this workout through Amazon on Sunday (1/31/2010) and received it on Wednesday (2/3/2010)! Great shipping Amazon!
I agree with everyone about the Kettlebell itself, it does scrape your knuckles, but because of the reviews on it I was prepared and had bought my own ahead of time.
I did this workout the day I got it and instantly loved it! According to my HR montior I burned 350 calories and I was sweating through pretty much the whole thing. I am pretty impressed with myself that I managed the Turkish roll up move on the second try because that is a hard one! I did found the moves easy to follow so that was also a plus. I am not new to exersise and I was a little doubtful that I would get any kind of workout with a 5 lb Kettlebell so I had an 8 lb one standing by, well I was pretty surprised at how mighty that little 5 lb bell is. I could feel the soreness setting in almost immediately after the workout and my muscles were thoroughly fatigued.
I haven't been this excited about an exercise routine in a long time. I totally recommend this workout to anyone who wants to try working out with a Kettlebell but doesn't know what to do with it!
