Amazon.com Product Description Need to lose weight but don't have enough time in the day? Turn to the WalkVest workout kit, which makes your body work harder while engaging in everyday athletic activities. Invented by Debbie Rocker--a former pro athlete and an originator of Spinning--the Walkvest increases the fat-burning, lean-muscle-building, and bone-strengthening effects of walking, running, and hiking. The vest is comfortable and breathable, with an adjustable cotton construction that safely holds from two to 16 pounds of added weight. As a result, you can burn fat and calories far faster and more efficiently than with standard cardio workouts, and can challenge your body even while walking the dog. Furthermore, your bones are forced to grow denser and stronger by carrying the extra weight, helping prevent osteoporosis.
The WalkVest helps you burn fat and build muscle during everyday activities. | A favorite of top U.S. gyms, leading health professionals, celebrities, and pro athletes in the U.S. and beyond, the WalkVest kit comes with a 20-minute introductory audio CD, along with eight 0.5 pound weights (additional weights and CDs are available). Note: The amount of weight you wear in your WalkVest is based on your own body weight and fitness level. Detailed instructions are in the box. You may also choose to vary the weight load based on the length or intensity of your planned workout. About Debbie Rocker With a passion for "changing people's lives, not just their bodies," Debbie Rocker created the WalkVest in 2003, drawing from her experience as a former pro athlete, cycling world record holder, fitness expert, and professional trainer for thousands of individuals, including health and medical professionals and some of Hollywood's best-known celebrities. Also one of the original developers of Spinning--she ran the company and established Spinning gyms in Los Angeles and New York--Rocker brings an attuned sensibility to the business of fitness. Rocker's athletic experience includes a trip across the U.S. on a tandem bicycle with a female friend in an attempt to set the Women's Tandem Cross Country Cycling world record. After training for a year and a half, securing Bud Light as a major sponsor, and assembling a 12-person support team, including a motor home and film crew, she and her friend rode from Huntington Beach, California, to Atlantic City, New Jersey in a mere 12 days. The point-to-point 1986 world record remains intact and is still recognized by the Ultra Marathoners Association. In the early 1990s, Rocker partnered with ultra-endurance cyclist Johnny G and formed the Spinning Group. She sold and delivered the first Spinning package to Crunch Fitness in New York, and nurtured the growth of Spinning until she branched off and began operating Spinning and private training facilities in New York and L.A. Rocker invented the WalkVest after pounding the pavement for hours on end while training for marathons. Although the training regimen helped her achieve a personal best time of 3 hours and 18 minutes in the Los Angeles marathon, it ultimately wore on her body, leading Rocker to switch to progressive resistance (weight-bearing) walking. The switch immediately improved her body's performance. "I started to love my workouts again," says Rocker. "I felt no pain, and my body became stronger and even leaner than before. Best of all, I looked forward to walking, and I could do it with friends of different fitness levels, since we could all choose our own variable weight to carry."

| Customer Reviews: Not Sure But Working Towards Results October 20, 2009 Mrisha (Chicago, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've only had my walkvest for about 2 weeks, and I use it 5 days a week. I haven't seen any results yet, but I am hoping that it works. I like the feel of the vest and it hangs ok with movement. Too bad it only comes with 4 lbs of weights. I checked the Debbie Rocker site for additional weights and the prices are ridiculous for shipping and handling, so I searched online elsewhere and got additional weights for only a fraction of the cost for shipping versus the amount DR was asking for on her site. I would love to write another review after about 3 months to report my results. Right now I would give it 3 stars.
Weighted Vest October 19, 2009 M. Barnheiser (Montebello, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Although I am happy to have and use the weighted vest, I'm a little disappointed in its practicality. The vest does not stay closed and it tends to slip a little in the shoulders, so I'm constantly having to re-adjust it. I actually use it while exercising on WiiFit and WiiFit Plus -- maybe the fact that I'm moving my arms a lot has something to do with the slipping.
comfortable to wear October 15, 2009 Judy J. Joy (Port St Lucie, Florida United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have worn the walkvest several times with 4 lbs in and feel it is comfortable to wear. I am an advanced walker and bought it for my shorter walks to increase calorie burn. It is not too hot to wear even in the hot Florida temps.
Great vest, but doesn't come with enough weights June 10, 2009 S. Walker 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This weight vest is very well made and evenly distributes the weight. When you actually wear it, it doesn't feel nearly as heavy as it does when you pick it up. It's a great fit and fairly discreet-looking. Like the previous poster, my one complaint is that it only comes with 4 lbs of weight and you have to buy extra weights if you want more. I find that annoying as you have to pay shipping each time you order more weights. Nevertheless, I feel that this vest is still well worth it!
Love My Walk Vest, but things I would change! May 13, 2009 Andrea Willis (Santa Rosa) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
My husband brought this for me for a gift. He was told they run small. That wasn't true for me. He got me a large, and he can fit in it too. It is big, but I put a safety pin to keep it closed, and wear a vest underneath. The medium would have been perfect for me. The vest is pretty comfy. My other complaint is that it doesn't come with that many weights.
Have 6 pounds, he bought extra ones for me, and I already need more. Most vests come with more weights. I do enjoy the way it is made, and it looks good on. Some of the other vest, are so bulky. I would have given this a 5 star, but since the weights are so expensive, and hard to get I give it a 4, and they are not true to size.
All in all, I think that this vest has helped me loose some weight. I think that this vest, is the best choice for my needs.
