3 out of 5 stars Customer service poor, initailly got some wrong parts, but product seems to be good   June 29, 2010

Finally got my Nubax together. I actually think it's reducing my back pain level and also increasing mobility. I will definitely keep using it...the gentle back stretching feels good..like it's something that I've NEEDED to have done. Would give it more stars than 3 if customer service were more responsive.

Got my Nubax several weeks ago but have YET to be able to use it. Bolts too big for holes they're supposed to go in, parts I got all wrong. Tried calling them but no # that will work in US. Emailed them and took several days to hear back...they explained they were on holiday. I identified 3 separate parts problems in my email, they promised they'd send parts. Nada. Emailed them again, they said parts would be sent out soon. Finally got new parts for ONE of the 3 parts problems I described. Had they better customer service, they could have emailed me about the other parts which I now find are correct.

4 out of 5 stars very useful device   June 24, 2010

I bought the Nubax after months of suffering with sciatica from a synovial cyst at L5. I'm writing this review for a couple of reasons: 1. if you are suffering from a synovial cyst, the Nubax may help, but 2. you should know that synovial cysts can resolve on their own if you're willing to wait. Mine took almost a year to resolve, and I was right on the verge of having surgery. Another modality that can help is homeopathy, if you have a good homeopath, and exercise. But aside from that, the Nubax is a great traction device especially if you have a history of glaucoma in your family and so do not want to go the inversion table route.

1 out of 5 stars Poor packaging and missing parts   June 18, 2010

I am right now giving this 1 star since it's the lowest I can give. I have had low back issues for 10 years now, more so in the buttock and back of left leg. I think it fits the symptoms of sciatica. Anyway I estimate Ive spent 15,000 in those 10 years trying to get it alleviated, chiro's mri's, etc. No Dr. can see a problem with tests and pictures, chiropractic is no help and massage is no help and physical therapy is a very costly no help. I anxiously awaited the arrival of the NUBAX, it arrived about 3 days after ordering through Amazon. Upon opening the box and laying out the parts, I seen 2 necessary parts are missing. The Nubax is made in China. I guess it was just an Australians idea, but anyway you can not contact them by phone. The number provided in there manual does not work at least not from the United States. The only other contact info was an email address. I sent in all the info and numbers I could find and a list of the parts missing. I didn't know how much back and forth emailing it will take to get it straightened out and how long I have to wait for the missing parts. Anyway after emailing NUBAX direct I decided a faster option would be to return it to Amazon for a full refund and order another one. I was told by Amazon it would take 5 to 7 weeks to take care of the missing parts. At least they are taking it back and paying the shipping. Only problem is I have to leave the box out in the rain for the next 2 to 5 days awaiting the UPS to pick it up. I will update this review and rating after receiving a NUBAX that I can actually assemble and try out. Nubax failed but Amazon customer service gets an A+.

1 out of 5 stars Very disappointed!   June 15, 2010

First, I am probably worse off physically than most. I did not buy this to treat a pulled muscle or a singular recent back injury. I have multiple back injuries with chronic pain for 15+ years. I also had stage four thyroid cancer in 99 which adversely effected most of my neck and shoulder muscles resulting in a significant loss of strength. I bought this with an open mind and just some hope it might work even a little bit.

After watching the videos from The Healthy Back Institute, You Tube and reading the reviews on Amazon I decided out of desperation to give this a try.

I have spent over $6K on back treatments just in 2010. I had an L5 surgery in 1987, and have been dealing with chronic back pain for decades. After spending six weeks with the DRX9000 back stretching treatment with an MD costing over $5k earlier this year, I am willing to try just about anything.

I hit a pothole with a motorcycle in Oct 2008 and have never recovered from the impact my back incurred that day. I spent nearly a year searching for help from the medical profession, only to be told you can not operate on nor fix an issue like this of the thoracic spine.

18 MRI's since 1986, 4 just in 2009 have shown a fused neck, 6 bulging discs, one fractured vertebra and no disc at L5. I can barely move most of the time. I have been told by numerous MD's and an orthopedic surgeon there is nothing they can do.

I had waited a few months before deciding on purchasing this unit after first hearing about it and was VERY disappointed in the quality of the machine when I opened the box. Anyone that has purchased a Teeter's product can easily see the difference in quality between their products and the Nubax. There is NO comparison!

IMO, this is no deal for $300. Comprised of inexpensive tubing, foam, poorly constructed but very well marketed. It would appear to be a good idea, but less than what I expected as far as the materials and construction. It seems many have just come to expect less than quality products as the norm these days. If it works for you, that is pretty much all that matters.

It did not work for me and did more harm than good. I would not feel right trying to sell this to someone else.

The first two times I used this I had so much pain in the shoulders I could barely move them for days. I worked through the pain hoping this would relieve some of the pain in my spine. It did not.

After thinking about what Nubax had to offer for about a week, vs what it cost, I decided to return the item to Amazon.

The Teeters EP950 inversion table is a great deal for your money and works well if you enjoy using one. I regret selling that at the advice of my MD, which at the time suggested I not use it due to loss of balance from 60 hrs in a Hyperbaric Oxygen tank to treat a 35 yr jaw bone infection. I can always buy another and may end up doing so.

I also had a severe adverse reaction to the contrast dye used in an MRI in Jan 06 and had not been able to lay flat for 2.5 yrs after, as my spine was locked up due to the Magnevist contrast agent used. I was finally able to lay on my back after a month of sleeping on a Robert's moist heating pad. This gets extremely hot and you need to use a great deal of padding to protect your bed and your body. I used a sheepskin pad under it and four layers of heavy bath towels on top to prevent getting burned. It does not have a temperature setting and uses a dead man, on/off switch to prevent being burned should you fall asleep using it.

My most recent purchase to try to solve my chronic back issue was the Teeter's Lynx portable back stretcher from Amazon. The only problem I had with it was difficulty getting the adjuster on the ankle grips to move (still waiting for a return call from Teeters). Everything else about it is the kind of quality product you expect from Teeters. Outstanding!

I used it for the first time yesterday and admit to overdoing it, not realizing just how much of a pull this puts on your spine. I still find it difficult to lay flat on my back. After just 15 minutes or so using this, I found it all but impossible to get off the floor once I had used it. The pain was excruciating!

The good news is, some hours later, I experienced a great deal of relief! I am now using the Robert's moist heating pad with four layers of bath towels on top, to warm up the muscles and will most likely buy the Teeter's vibrating massage pad to put under my back prior to using the Lynx.

This little machine by far exceeds the stretch I got on the professional DRX9000 machine offered by an MD. I hope to provide an update on the progress in a couple of months. Another plus is its very compact size and travel case.

With so many products available from Amazon and their outstanding customer service, it is by far the only affordable option I have to trying alternate therapies and I really appreciate and depend on the product reviews prior to making my purchases.

5 out of 5 stars NUBAX   June 6, 2010
Adrian E. Offinger (Wilton, CT)
The NUBAX is working just fine for me. First, I ordered a used NUBAX and only one part came, and I think not even a NUBAX part. Well, I returned it and bought the new NUBAX which I like vry much, only this time I had to pay shipping whereas thefirst shipment, Amazon paid for shipping, but it was of no use at all. Adrian E.
